SAN FRANCISCO — From May 9–16, San Francisco Public Library (SFPL) is offering over 30 free workshops for its annual Tech Week. Gain a thorough understanding of digital basics, level up your fundamentals and learn exciting skills with the assistance of the latest technology. This year, Tech Week is also providing accessibility-focused workshops on the skills and tools needed to foster digital inclusivity. Workshops are available for Individuals of all ages and experience levels. 

"Tech is part of everyday life, and it puts information and services right at our fingertips,” said Maricela Leon-Barrera, Digital Equity Manager at SFPL. “But using tech confidently requires some knowledge, familiarity and comfort. Tech Week gives everyone, from tech novices to the tech savvy, a chance to learn something new, join the conversation and help close their own digital divide." 
 

Accessibility-focused workshops include the essentials of inclusive social media and lessons on creating a custom, accessible experience on SFPL public computers. Tech Week also features virtual Tagalog learning, Microsoft Excel basics, cybersecurity tips, photograph preservation, digital art for beginners, home improvement with AI, a hands-on DJ lesson and much more. For those looking for a break from the fast-paced world of tech, you can even de-stress with animal assisted therapy. 

To help bridge the digital divide, Tech Week takes place throughout San Francisco, at various Library and partner locations, as well as online, featuring some programs in Spanish, Chinese and Filipino. It is an opportunity for the community to learn and explore the possibilities of technology. 

SF Tech Week is produced by a coalition of San Francisco and Bay Area organizations, including Tech Exchange, Dev/Mission, Community Living Campaign, digitalLift, Felton Institute, Curry Senior Center and SF Tech Council, that provide technology training and resources. View the full schedule at sfpl.org/techweek or stop by a location to pick up a print brochure.
