Author-artist T Edward Bak will share the latest chapter from his serialized graphic novel Sea Of Time—which follows the journey of 18th century naturalist Georg Wilhelm Steller and explores indigenous ecological traditions that influenced Steller’s accounts of Siberian and North Pacific natural history.
Bak is a Colorado native with mixed Anglo and Mexican-American xicanx roots—and is a Portland-based cartoonist and comics educator whose work is informed by pop culture, natural history, traditional ecological knowledge and esoteric/occult dimensions at various crossroads of western North American psychogeography and biogeography.
In addition to Sea Of Time, Bak is the author-artist of the comics series Remote Viewer, the graphic novel Island Of Memory, and the illustrated comics essay anthology Not A Place To Visit. His comics have been featured in The Nib, Flagpole Magazine,, and High Country News magazine — as well as the critically-acclaimed anthologies Orchid, MOME, Drawn & Quarterly Showcase and The Best American Comics.
