A chamber concert featuring San Francisco Symphony musicians performing classical pieces from a range of composers and sharing their experiences as members of the San Francisco Symphony. This event is open to all library patrons and is brought to you by the San Francisco Symphony’s Community Chamber Concert program.
Featured musicians Amos Yang, Acting Associate Principal Cello and Charles Chandler, Bass.
Amos Yang joined the San Francisco Symphony in 2007 as Assistant Principal Cello and was previously a member of the Seattle Symphony and a member of the Maia String Quartet. Born and raised in San Francisco, he was a member of the SF Symphony Youth Orchestra and San Francisco Boys Choir, and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Juilliard School. He now serves on the faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the San Francisco Academy Orchestra. As a chamber musician, Vinocour is a regular guest of the Seattle Chamber Music Society, La Jolla Music Society SummerFest, Marlboro Music Festival, Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival, Salt Bay Chamberfest, and ChamberFest Cleveland. His chamber music partners have included Yefim Bronfman, Yo-Yo Ma, Augustin Hadelich, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Igor Levit, and James Ehnes, among others. He also performs frequently on the SF Symphony Chamber Music Series and as a recitalist around the country.
Charles Chandler is the first member of the SFS Youth Orchestra to have become a member of the San Francisco Symphony. He studied with Shinji Eshima of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and with David Walter at Juilliard. Prior to joining the SFS in 1992, he performed at the Schleswig-Holstein Festival and served as associate principal bass of the Phoenix Symphony.
