Participants will create their own retablo inspired image using block printing techniques and added illustrations. They will learn about the process of relief printing and the retablo folk art tradition. Space limited.
Alyssa Aviles is a visual artist and arts educator based in San Francisco, CA. She graduated with a BFA in Printmaking from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and is currently completing a studio apprenticeship at Mullowney Printing Co. in Portland, Oregon. Alyssa has collaborated with the SFMOMA, the De Young Museum Galería de la Raza, the SF Opera, SOMArts, Kala Art Institute, YBCA, the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts and Youth Art Exchange to exhibit work and facilitate community workshops.
