A Photographic Retrospective of San Francisco’s African-American Community.

This presentation features selected works, many never before published, of local photographer, Steve Jackson, Jr., who was resident photographer at Jimbo’s Bop City (1951-1965). A portion of Jackson’s collection is currently on exhibit at the Smithsonian’s African-American Museum of History & Culture in Washington, DC. Join us and experience the city and San Francisco’s African-American community through images and anecdotes shared by his daughter, Linda.

Linda A. Jackson, a native San Franciscan, is a writer, historian, photographer, and food artist. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Mount St. Mary’s University and received her Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from Antioch University Los Angeles. She is a member of the San Francisco Writers Workshop, and has recently completed a collection of short stories entitled, The Religion of Slaves. She is now working on her memoir.
