Learn how to make two kinds of chutney, an Indian condiment, led by Shanta Nimbark Sacharoff. Shanta will discuss the importance of herbs and spices in cooking and teach us how to make two different kinds of chutney. Chutney is easy to prepare, a healthy and delicious condiment that can be eaten alongside a curry, used as a dip or made into a sandwich spread. Questions and answers will follow with free samples of chutney, crackers, and chai made by Shanta.

Shanta Nimbark Sacharoff, a local author who has published three cookbooks - Cooking Together: A Vegetarian Co-op Cookbook, The Ethnic Vegetarian Kitchen, Flavors of India: Vegetarian Indian Cuisine and a book on the local history of food cooperatives - Other Avenues Are Possible: Legacy of the People's Food System of the San Francisco Bay Area. She is also the founder and co-owner of Other Avenues Grocery Co-Op in the Outer Sunset district.
