Hear about colorful world of natural dyes with Ocean Escalanti. Ocean shares her expertise as a natural dye enthusiast and forager, adept at sourcing local plants for vibrant pigments. From plant identification to dye extraction and application, participants will learn the fundamentals of natural dyeing while gaining insight into sustainable practices and indigenous knowledge. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with nature through the art of dyeing.

Ocean Escalanti (She/Her) is an indigenous artist and writer residing in Oakland, CA. She is a natural dye enthusiast foraging locally for plants in her area and can be found using them for pressing pigments into fibers. Ocean has an arts practice in printmaking and textile art showing work in museums and galleries around the SF Bay Area. She self-publishes poetry, illustration, and natural dye how-to zines to vend across the West Coast as various zinefests and craft fairs.
