San Francisco Assessor Joaquín Torres welcomes Housing and Economic Rights Advocates to teach attendees how to protect your family wealth. 

 

This workshop explains the difference between passing on property through probate versus having an estate plan in place. Learn key components of an estate plan, including a trust, durable power of attorney, advanced healthcare directive and a will. This presentation is part of the Office of the Assessor-Recorder's Family Wealth Series.   Please feel free to submit questions in advance to assessor@sfgov.org.

Joaquín Torres was sworn in as San Francisco’s Assessor-Recorder by Mayor London Breed on February 8, 2021. Prior to his appointment, Torres served as the Director of the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development since 2018, and has led citywide efforts to mitigate economic hardships on businesses and workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the years, Torres has leveraged resources across City departments to create opportunities for all, expand support for small businesses and workers, build capacity and stability for locally rooted nonprofits and maximize equitable economic and social impact for the benefit of San Franciscan communities, residents, businesses and neighborhoods. CCSF Office of Assessor-Recorder 

 

Housing & Economic Rights Advocates (HERA) is a California statewide, not-for-profit legal service and advocacy organization dedicated to helping Californians — particularly those most vulnerable — build a safe, sound financial future, free of discrimination and economic abuses, in all aspects of household financial concerns. HERA provides free legal services, consumer workshops, training for professionals and community organizing support, create innovative solutions and engage in policy work locally, statewide and nationally.
