Local author Sherilyn Connelly reads from her inspirational LGBTQ+ history book Beautiful Ghosts: A Queer Memoir of San Francisco.
In 1999, 25-year-old Sherilyn Connelly came out of the closet as transgender. Her timing was not great, and she soon stumbled into a difficult relationship in which her emerging identity was stifled. Connelly's wickedly funny memoir tells the story of how she found her voice as a writer and as a woman, learned the secret of becoming a star and discovered a home among the wraiths and strays of San Francisco. It is also a remembrance of a bygone era—a portrait of the City's lost underworld of literate vampires and beautiful ghosts.
