Editors Kitty Costello, Valerie Behiery and Hanan Hazime host a reading of authors featured in their new anthology Muslim American Writers at Home: Stories, Essays and Poems of Identity, Diversity and Belonging.
Muslim American Writers at Home: Stories, Essays & Poems of Identity Diversity & Belonging, just released by Freedom Voices, is a collection of 36 astonishingly diverse U.S. and Canadian Muslim voices that overturn stereotypes and help to heal Islamophobia on every page. These writers tell us firsthand what it’s like to live, love and write as a Muslim in North America today.
Shaped by an impressive interweave of cultures, languages and ethnicities, the writers in this anthology reflect on what it means to find home and how powerful it can be to feel heard, recognized, and welcomed, especially during recent times of heightened prejudice and violence. The anthology’s diversity of genres and voices is paralleled by the diversity of its contributors, American and Canadian Muslims of African, Miꞌkmaq, Bosnian, Indian, Palestinian, Puerto Rican, and Irish descent.
