Presentation: Know Your Rights

Medi-Cal Benefits, Eligibility and Recent Changes
Wednesday, 4/13/2022
3:00 - 4:30

Medi-Cal (known federally as Medicaid) is California’s health care insurance program for low-income children and adults, which is administered by the local county office.

Led by health access attorneys from Bay Area Legal Aid Consumer Health Center, this Know Your Rights presentation provides a basic overview of the types of benefits Medi-Cal offers, eligibility rules and recent changes to Medi-Cal. We also cover rights a Medi-Cal applicant or beneficiary may have if the county or a Medi-Cal managed care plan has taken an action the applicant or beneficiary disagrees with, including an overview of the complaint process by the Department of Managed Health Care. A question and answer session follows the presentation.

Bay Area Legal Aid’s Health Consumer Center operates a free legal advice line providing advice and referrals for health access related issues.  If you have a health-access related question, please call the Health Consumer Center at 855-693-7285, Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm.
