Join us for a special poetry reading to celebrate the National Poetry Month. Meet and listen to the San Francisco Bay Area poets, including the Revolutionary Poets Brigade and other poets, Dee Allen, Nahid  Aria,  Mahnaz Badihian,  Lisbit Bailey , Lucille Lang Day  Agneta Falk,  Clara Hsu,  D.L. Lang (former Vallejo Poet Laureate),  Karen Melander-Magoon, Barbara Paschke, Sally Love Saunders, Nina Serrano and Raymond Nat Turner. Open mic is available if time allows.


About the featured poets:

Karen Melander-Magoon is a former opera singer who has written poetry all her life. She wrote many books and four musical portraits of great women (e.g., Clara Barton, Georgia O'Keeffe, Lillie Langtry and Colette), which were performed in many venues in the U.S. and Europe. 

Clara Hsu is the executive director of Clarion Performing Arts Center in San Francisco Chinatown. She has published two books of poetry and several children's plays and music videos on the internet.

Dee Allen is an African-Italian performance poet based in Oakland, California. He is active on creative writing & Spoken Word since the early 1990s and an author of many books.

Mahnaz Badihian is an Iranian/American Poet, painter, and translator whose work has been published in several languages worldwide. She runs the Literary magazine MahMag.org to bring the world's poetry together and received her MFA in poetry from Pacific University. Mahnaz participated a guest poet at the Kathmandu poetry festival on February 2023.

Lucille Lang Day is the author or editor of 20 books, including Birds of San Pancho and Other Poems of Place and Poetry and Science: Writing Our Way to Discovery.

Raymond Nat Turner is an activist poet of The Town Crier.

Nina Serrano is the Program Creator for KPFA and OZCAT radio in Berkeley.
