Fang Rending (1901-1975) was a pivotal leader in reforming traditional Chinese figure painting in the 1930s.  In 1939, he was the first Chinese artist to receive a one-man exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.  His artworks span half a century, combining ideals of East and West, modern and ancient. Explore Fang Rending’s masterful art and life as told by his granddaughter, Tanya Fang.
