Tranquil Resonance--the Story of the Guqin

Event detail

The guqin, a 7-stringed zither, is China's oldest stringed instrument, and is one of the four noble arts of the Chinese literati.  In 2003, guqin was proclaimed as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.  In celebration of the Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month, the Chinatown Branch Library welcomes Mr. Alan Yip, program director of the Tranquil Resonance Studio, for an enlightening lecture on the guqin with live demonstration.  The program will be conducted mainly in English.

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month celebrates Asian/Pacific Islander American heritage, with special events filled with dance, music and art, exhibits, author talks, crafts, delicious food and creative programs for all ages.
