The James C. Hormel Center is pleased to present a new photographic exhibition by Gary Watson. The exhibit consists of 19 black-and-white prints of Houston transwoman Alexis Hollada. Watson took the portraits of Hollada over the course of several months, and each photograph has accompanying text pulled from an interview the artist did with the subject. The photos and captions tell Hollada’s story in her own words—from her youth to her growing self-awareness and her experiences as she made her transition, as well as her desire to support others during their transitions.

Gather, share knowledge and celebrate our unique identities at the queerest library ever. Visit the James C. Hormel LGBTQIA Center, the gateway to the Library’s broader collections documenting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex and allies’ history and culture, with a special emphasis on the San Francisco Bay Area.
