Alcatraz Island prison guard on duty in main cell blockJoin us for an evening of conversation featuring an Alcatraz Park Ranger and local formerly incarcerated person. You will hear about some of the lesser known stories from Alcatraz and how it shaped the identity of the men who were held there. Learn how this former prison turned national park site has influenced the way we talk about the identity of prisoners today.Author, mentor and formerly incarcerated, Malik Wade, will share his story of reentry and evolving identity. Participants will be invited to join in the conversation around identity and the criminal justice system. This event is co-sponsored by the National Park Service: Alcatraz Island.
