Susan Karasof from the California Native Plant Society (CNPS) will provide insight and knowledge on gardening for San Francisco’s Butterflies and Pollinators San Francisco is home to many butterfly species, many native bee species and hummingbirds that pollinate our fruits, vegetables and flowers. Butterflies babies (caterpillars) evolved with and depend on eating local San Francisco native plants.  Local San Francisco native plants evolved to adapt to our local soils and climate. We’ll discuss what to plant in clay and sandy areas of San Francisco so that you can grow your own pollinator garden buffet, including shallow rooted plants that thrive in pots.
