Daniel Lezama, contemporary Mexican painter will discuss the virtual retrospective at The Mexican Museum, his opening exhibition at The Museo Morelense de Arte Contemporáneo and his art career.

Born in Mexico City to Mexican-American parents, Lazama studied Visual Arts at Mexico’s National University, has been sponsored several times by both the National Endowment for the Arts sponsorship for Young Artists, and the National Creators System sponsorship program, in Mexico. His 2008 early mid-career exhibition, The Prodigal Mother in the Mexico City Museum, was marked by the publication of an extensive monograph on his work by Hilario Galguera Ediciones. In 2011, the exhibition Travelers was published by Jovis Art in Germany. Other more recent monographs include Trees of Tamoanchan and The Soft Motherland. To date, he has shown in more than a hundred individual and collective exhibitions, including Great Masters of the 20th Century in MARCO Museum, the 2nd Beijing Biennale, the Mexican Palace of Fine Arts, Imperium at the Leipzig Spinnerei, Images of the Nation at MUNAL, the centerpiece of the Mexican Pavilion in the Milan Universal Exhibition and the Xth Mercosul Biennale in Porto Alegre, 2015. 

Lezama is a mentor, juror, curator and tutor of younger generations of visual artist.
