A panel featuring members from the Ella Baker Center and Stop San Quentin Outbreak Zine Project, along with formerly incarcerated and currently incarcerated folks discussing their work in coordinating resources, advocacy, grassroots organizing and policy change in California.

Panelists include Elliot Hosman and Isa Borgeson (Ella Baker Center), Steve Brooks (Inside Fellow, currently incarcerated at San Quentin State Prison), Dortell Williams (Inside Fellow, currently incarcerated at Chuckawalla Valley State Prison), Christopher Marshall (Stop San Quentin Outbreak Zine Editor, currently incarcerated at San Quentin State Prison) and Thanh Tran (formerly incarcerated).

The Ella Baker Center works locally, statewide and nationally to shift resources away from prisons and punishment and towards opportunities that make our communities safe, healthy and strong. They mobilize everyday people to build power and prosperity in our communities. The Ella Baker Center Inside/Outside Fellowship sponsors currently and formerly incarcerated people to increase the contributions to the legislative process by people who are directly impacted by the policies they are advocating to change.

The San Quentin Zine Project highlights artwork, writing and reflections from currently incarcerated community members on the COVID-19 outbreak inside San Quentin State Prison and across the California prison system. The zine documents the lived experience of people incarcerated during the pandemic and the organizing happening inside and outside of prison walls to call for large-scale releases across California prisons.
