Join garden historian Judith M. Taylor for an illuminating talk on the often overlooked role of women in shaping gardens and landscapes over the past two centuries. Drawing from her extensive research, Taylor will explore the wide-ranging contributions of women in horticulture, landscape design, and plant breeding, while uncovering stories that have frequently been ignored or erased. This engaging presentation offers a fresh perspective on garden history and invites audiences to see cultivated spaces through a new lens.

About the Author
Judith M. Taylor is a historian and author specializing in garden history and horticulture. Her work focuses on the cultural and global movements that have shaped the plants and landscapes we know today. She is the author of several books, including The Olive in California: History of an Immigrant Tree, The Global Migrations of Ornamental Plants: How the World Got into Your Garden, Tangible Memories: Californians and Their Gardens, 1800–1950, and Visions of Loveliness: Great Flower Breeders of the Past.

Summer Stride is the Library's annual summer learning, reading and exploration program for all ages and abilities. Read and learn with the Library all summer long.
