Meet local artist/author MK Wong and learn more about this graphic novel memoir, told in a fantastical way. The Sun Represents Your Heart is a story about the deep bond between an elderly mother and her adult child. Not only does it celebrate elders like the author's mother, the story also poignantly looks at healthcare inequities for Asian American and Pacific Islander elders and others, amplified by the racial discrimination since the pandemic.

Drawing upon memories of Hong Kong and his life in the United States, MK Wong reimagines visual storytelling where fantasy meets reality. He weaves real events with imaginary elements, using fantasy as a lens to explore deeper truths and amplify often-overlooked voices, fostering empathy and dialogue. Wong is a two-time recipient of the San Francisco Arts Commission's San Francisco Artist Grant.
