Discover how public domain materials can inspire new creative work and recover overlooked voices from the past. Explore how readers and creators can access and reimagine free cultural materials, with a focus on writing and art by Bay Area artists whose work is out of copyright and ready to be rediscovered. Learn how Cita Press collaborates with contemporary writers and artists to transform archival texts into new, design-forward publications, and consider how curation and accessibility shape whose stories endure.

Jessi Haley is the editorial director of Cita Press, an open access, design-focused feminist press that creates new books from public domain texts. Her work centers on recovering and amplifying overlooked voices through collaborative publishing projects that connect historical materials with contemporary readers and artists.
