I'm Walkin’ for My Freedom is a photographic exhibition of black and white digital pigment prints taken by Matt Herron during the Selma to Montgomery Civil Rights March, Spring 1965. The March resulted directly in the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and was the most significant and celebrated march of the Civil Rights movement.
Although the march occurred some 55 years ago, its message is particularly relevant today, now that voting rights are once again under assault in our country. The determination, courage and sacrifices of those civil rights veterans continue to serve as an example as Americans once again take to the streets in defense of our democratic values.
- Opening event: Meet photographer Matt Herron as he discusses the exhibition.
Sunday, February 16, 1:00 p.m., Main Library, Koret Auditorium
