Film directed by Aaron Woolfolk, with Esperanza Catubig. This short tells the story of a dedicated jazz musician and what happens to his family after his sudden death.

Pinoy Jazz: The Story of Jazz in the Philippines
12:55–1:50
Documentary by Richie Quirino based on Pinoy Jazz Traditions, winner of the 2004 (Philippine) National Book Award in the music category and a second book entitled Mabuhay Jazz: Jazz in Post War Philippines (2008).

Screening will be followed by a Q&A with R. Quirino who will also be a featured guest artist in the San Francisco Filipino American Jazz Festival at Yoshi’s SF on October 20, 2013. Moderator: Carlos Ziálcita.

Cine: Spanish Influences on Early Cinema in the Philippines

A documentary by Nick Deocampo, a noted film historian, director and author. Based on his award-winning book published in 2003.

Film: American Influences on Philippine Cinema.
3:25-4:25
A documentary by Nick Deocampo based on his new book published in 2012. Q&A with Nick Deocampo to follow. Moderator: Mauro Feria Tumbocon, Jr.
