Zachary Michael Jack discusses his fascinating new book, March of the Suffragettes: Rosalie Gardiner Jones and the March for Voting Rights.  This work could not be more timely with the first woman ever nominated by a major political party running for President of the United States and questions of voting access abounding.   Women in Hillary Clinton’s home state of Illinois celebrated their vote in presidential elections as early as 1913, thanks in large part to the national publicity generated by the inspiring New York march of “General” Rosalie Jones and her all-woman suffrage army.  The inclusion of the “soldiers’”chants, songs, personal letters, and notes invites readers to join in the march and feel like a true participant in the fight for gender equality.  Signed copies of his book will be available for sale.
