Join us for a Trans Day of Resilience screening and discussion of Check It!

This film festival favorite follows a group of African-American gay and transgender youth in one of Washington D.C.'s most violent neighborhoods. After being subjected to constant torment and assault, the group formed their own gang for camaraderie and protection.  This documentary follows their experiences, successes, and struggles as they meet mentors in their community and begin to learn fashion design.

Official Selection at the Tribeca Film Festival, Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, and the San Francisco International Film Festival.

Information on local trans-related resources will be available at this event.

Gather, share knowledge and celebrate our unique identities at the queerest library ever. Visit the James C. Hormel LGBTQIA Center, the gateway to the Library’s broader collections documenting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex and allies’ history and culture, with a special emphasis on the San Francisco Bay Area.

These cultural events are free and open to the public. See More Than a Month for the complete program guide.
