Still shot of film Baghdad by the Bay

From Baghdad to The Bay follows the epic journey of Ghazwan Alsharif, an Iraqi refugee and former translator for the U.S. military. Wrongfully accused of being a double agent, tortured by the U.S. military and ostracized from family and country, Ghazwan struggles to rebuild his life in the United States while coming out as an openly gay activist and competing to become a celebrity chef.

Filled with both tragedy and humor, FROM BAGHDAD TO THE BAY is a roller coaster ride that delights, inspires and builds bridges across communities that might not otherwise intersect. A true embodiment of the American dream, Ghazwan (the film’s protagonist) illustrates the hope and spirit that this country still inspires at a most pertinent time.
