Green Gifts: the gifts that keep on giving

Transform your old books and magazines, T-shirts and sweaters, bottles and jars into gifts this holiday season and add a personal, handmade touch to your gift-giving by upcycling with the Library.

During the month of December, libraries throughout the City host Green Gifts workshops for kids, teens and adults, focusing on crafting seasonal presents and decorations using repurposed materials.

Help create less waste and learn innovative ways to utilize the three Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

Upcycling is the creative reuse of old materials to make new beautiful and functional items; try your hand at weaving newspaper baskets, folding origami Christmas trees, creating paper ornaments, fabric flowers, T-shirt tote bags and much more.

Program Highlights

The Library is excited to offer free workshops about green ideas and environmentally sustainable practices. For more eco-friendly resources and programs, please visit the Wallace Stegner Environmental Center at the Main Library.
