Experiences of Women Veterans

11/05/2014
6:00 - 8:00

Main Library

Koret Auditorium

100 Larkin St.

Women veterans are the fastest growing cohorts of the veteran population. They share many of the same experiences as their male counterparts, and although most do not emerge with military service-connected issues, some share many of the short- and long-term physical and emotional consequences and needs that their male counterparts face as a result of serving their country. In addition, as women veterans they have unique experiences and needs.

Come join us at the San Francisco Public Library and listen to Star Lara, Dottie Guy and Kelly McFarland from Swords to Ploughshares tell their own stories. Their narratives will include their journeys in joining the military, deployment, returning home, and transition.

The San Francisco Public Library and Associated Students Inc. at San Francisco State University present this program in association with Cal Humanities statewide initiative, War Comes Home/CalReads.
