Papel picado is a traditional Mexican folk art featuring colorful tissue paper cut into intricate, perforated designs and hung as festive banners. Artisans typically craft these delicate decorations by layering sheets of paper and punching out shapes with specialized chisels and small mallets. Alternatively, they hand-fold the sheets and use sharp scissors. We will use this hand-folding and scissor technique to create our very own unique designs!
