Come hear a dramatic reading of Field, Nest, Stage, a brand-new play by Ayelet Schrek, presented by acclaimed theater director Kayla Minton Kaufman and featuring talented local actors. Field, Nest, Stage follows the relationship between Maa and Terrance in three separate contexts: a rural home, a warped 1950's-esque suburbia, and finally, a stage. Inspired by the work of Cuban-American avant-gardist Maria Irene Fornés, this triptych on intimacy incorporates musical elements and explores the possibilities of dramatic form.

Playwright Ayelet Schrek works as a professional theatre artist and educator throughout the Bay Area.

Kayla Minton Kaufman, currently based in San Francisco, has worked in institutions across the nation, from American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco to Portland Stage in Maine. In directing her new Fresh Play Sunday Reading Series, Kaufman says she loves “work that celebrates diversity, provokes discussion, and makes audiences laugh or cry (or just remember how to be human).”
