Jean-Luc Godard's experimental and aphoristic reworking of Shakespeare's tragedy. Stage director Peter Sellars stars as William Shakespeare Jr. the Fifth, commissioned to recover the works of his ancestor after a mass cultural amnesia event. Featuring one of the director's densest soundtracks, a digressive collage of polyglossia, music fragments, cackles, grunting swine and seagull cries. Cast includes Burgess Meredith as Don Learo (a Mafia version of Lear), Molly Ringwald as Cordelia, Leos Carax, Julie Delpy, JLG himself, and with cameos by Woody Allen and Norman Mailer. In English. "...one of Godard's greatest artistic achievements..."  — Richard Brody
