We will discuss Charles Yu's Interior Chinatown, a novel written in the form of a screenplay to tell the story of the protagonist, twenty-something Asian American actor Willis Wu, who narrates the story. The plot follows Wu's life and career as he’s cast in one stereotypical Chinese role after another. Willis struggles to free himself from the roles that Hollywood, American culture and his family have set for him. The novel won the 2020 National Book Award for Fiction.
