Katherine Sibley will explore President Harding's passing in San Francisco one hundred years ago this month, August 2, 1923, and its aftermath.  Harding's death was a shock to the nation, who mourned him and his funeral train from San Francisco to Washington to Marion, Ohio, while his wife, Florence Kling Harding, drew strength from the passing crowds while hoping to shape his legacy despite his critics.

Dr. Sibley, the Director of the American Studies Program at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, will be signing copies of her book, First Lady Florence Harding: Behind the Tragedy and Controversy, following the program.
