Watch a one-hour preview of the upcoming Independent Lens documentary Razing Liberty Square and participate in a presentation on the Waterfront Resilience Program from the Port of San Francisco. This Indie Lens Pop-Up screening is presented by San Francisco Public Library and iTVS.

Film Preview: Razing Liberty Square

Liberty City, Miami, was home to one of the oldest segregated public housing projects in the U.S. Now with rising sea levels, the neighborhood’s higher ground has become something else: real estate gold. Wealthy property owners push inland to higher ground, creating a speculators’ market in the historically Black neighborhood previously ignored by developers and policy-makers alike.

NR, 60 mins., 2024. Closed captions (CC) in English.

Presentation: Waterfront Resilience Program

Following the screening, Helen Balawejder and Luiz Barata of the Port of San Francisco will share information and take audience questions on the Waterfront Resilience Program. This program works to ensure San Francisco’s waterfront, and its critical regional and citywide assets, are resilient to hazards - and increasingly accessible to everyone it serves.

Space limited. Reservations required: (415) 355-2880 or online.
