San Francisco Chronicle Culture Critic Peter Hartlaub and California Academy of Sciences Head Librarian Rebekah Kim present the latest Total SF event at the library. They’ll share the most surprising, strange and inspiring Cal Academy photos and stories from their archives, including San Francisco’s action hero botanist, the aquarium’s “Oceans’s 11”-style hunt for a live shark and the real history behind Monarch the Bear — a centerpiece for the museum’s latest exhibit, California: State of Nature.
