Celebrate summer with the Library, at San Francisco Botanical Garden's Great Meadow.

Admission is free for San Francisco residents, those qualifying for the Museums for All program, Gardens members, Veterans and children ages four and under. Find out more information on San Francisco Botanical Gardens admissions, hours and accessibility.

11 a.m.– 1 p.m.Feminist Bird Club, birding session: Walk the gardens with Feminist Bird Club's San Francisco Bay Area Chapter in search of feathered friends. Masks are strongly encouraged during the session.

11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m., Ensambles Ballet Folklorico de San Francisco: Watch the beautiful cultural heritage of Mexico through folkloric dance.

12:15 p.m. – 12:45 p.m.Sendy Santamaria, author-illustrator: Santamaria is the Library's 2024 Summer Stride artist and author of children's book, Yenebi's Drive to School. Listen as she reads aloud her book and pick up a free copy of Yenebi's Drive to School, to get signed by the author. Space limited. 

1 p.m. – 1:45 p.m., Sendy Santamaria, mixed media art workshop: Walk the gardens and create art with Santamaria. Art kits are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Space limited.

Enjoy, throughout the day:

  • Music with DJ chungtech, originally a member of San Francisco-based collective Sweaterfunk and Oakland-based designer.

  • Screen-printing with artist Oscar Lopez and Haight Street Art Center. Poster art pop-up featuring a farmworker awareness design by Lopez. See screen-printing in action, pull a print yourself, meet the artist and take home a free poster.

  • Zine-making with SF Zine Fest, seeking to advance the do-it-yourself ethos by fostering community throughout the Bay Area.

  • Activity with Galería de la Raza, creating an interdisciplinary Chicano/Latino space for art, thought and activism.

  • New book giveaway, for all-ages.

  • Button-making, for all-ages.

  • STEM activities, for youth.

San Francisco Botanical Garden is 55 beautiful acres of landscaped gardens and open spaces that showcase more than 8,000 different kinds of plants from around the world.
