Presentation: Insights into the Mortuary and Funeral Service Industry

Explore the essential work of funeral directors, covering the daily responsibilities in the funeral service industry, such as funeral coordination, body preparation, and both emotional and administrative tasks. Attendees will learn about various career paths in the field, including embalming, grief counseling, and service management. The session also highlights key training routes, certifications, and the importance of emotional intelligence and communication skills, while addressing the challenges of managing sensitive family dynamics and staying current with industry regulations. 

Gary Ojeda, a licensed mortician with 17 years of experience, leads the session. As both a practicing mortician and a faculty member at Cypress College and NOCE, Ojeda brings a unique perspective on both the mortuary and funeral service industry, sharing his extensive knowledge and expertise from his work in funeral homes and mortuary operations, as well as his teaching role in the Mortuary Science and Funeral Service Assistant Certificate program.
