In honor of both Hispanic Heritage and World Alzheimer’s Months, join us for a special screening of The Rest I Make Up—named one of The New Yorker’s “Best Movies of 2018”—followed by a panel discussion focusing on creative care, cognitive resilience, identity and brain health. The panel, moderated by filmmaker Michelle Memran, will feature UCSF neurologist Dr. Charles Windon, care partner/advocate Carlos Olivas III, and Sandra Rivas, Director of Senior Programs & Operations, Day Services at On Lok 30th Street.

Reception at 2:30pm
Film begins at 3:00pm

This acclaimed documentary chronicles filmmaker Michelle Memran’s decade-long creative collaboration with legendary Cuban-American playwright María Irene Fornés. When Fornés stopped writing due to Alzheimer’s, their friendship—and the camera—sparked a new artistic practice, capturing the brilliance, humor and intimate bond that deepened between them.
