Discover the numerous advantages of container gardening from UC Master Gardners, Pat Kramer and Troy Weakley. They will guide you through selecting the right containers, choosing the best soil and amendments, and exploring various tomato varietals and veggies that thrive in this set-up. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or a beginner, you’ll leave with valuable tips and inspiration to create your own flourishing container garden.

Pat Kramer is a retired oncology nurse and a passionate gardener who has been tending to her Noe Valley garden for 30 years. In 2024, Pat completed the UC Master Gardener program. She is a life-long learner who enjoys sharing knowledge with others. Pat also enjoys cooking, travel, hiking and family gatherings with her husband and twin daughters.

Troy is a recent MG graduate who has been gardening since he was seven years old when his Mother gave him his first garden plot. He specializes in native pollinators, and everything supporting their biomes. In his garden, all plants are grown from seed. He handcrafts all soil and nutrient additions and all flora are cultivated under meticulously controlled conditions.

Find out about the latest climate and environmental issues, how to adopt greener practices and how to connect with the outdoors.

Cultivate your green thumb.
