Experience an afternoon of storytelling and performance inspired by opera highlighting creative community voices and fresh interpretations of classic works. The Opera Unbound Showcase features participants from The Opera in You writing workshops sharing original stories, alongside a staged reading by Page to Stage book club participants of When You’re the King, They Let You Do It, a new translation of Victor Hugo’s Le Roi s’amuse, the play that inspired Verdi’s Rigoletto. Translated and directed by Teaching Artist Marissa Skudlarek, When You’re the King, They Let You Do It, brings deeper meaning and timely parallels to the Verdi classic that opened our 103rd season in September 2025.
