Workshop: The Art of the Mandala with Ali Blum

Monday, 8/9/2021
7:00 - 8:00

In this activity you will use the form of the mandala as a point of departure and inspiration using the geometry and repeating motifs to create an image.

In Hinduism and Buddhism, the belief is that by entering the mandala and proceeding towards its center, you are guided through the cosmic process of transforming the universe from one of suffering into one of joy and happiness. A mandala is a symbolic picture of the universe and represents the connection between our inner worlds and outer reality. In this workshop  you will look at the form of mandalas and create your own images based on the structure and stylistic elements of mandalas.

Materials:

  • Several sheets of paper
  • pencil
  • compass
  • colored pencils, markers, or watercolor
