Born in Stockton, California to Vietnamese refugees, Phan is the fourth of five children. Her love for art emerged at an early age; drawing was her one constant in an ever-changing environment. Using watercolor, color pencil and digital media, Phan aims to tell Viet and queer stories with authenticity. Since graduating from California College of the Arts in 2014, she has worked with clients such as Google, Starbucks, NPR, Chronicle Books, Abrams and many others. To date, she has created 10 music posters for the Fillmore in San Francisco. Today, Phan is an illustrator and cartoonist residing in Oakland with her partner and two rabbits. When she isn’t drawing, she likes to ride her bicycle and read comics.
