Canceled: Presentation: Getting the Most from Your Small-Space Food Garden

Tuesday, 9/26/2023
12:00 - 1:00

With her extensive local gardening expertise, Pam Peirce guides you through the utilization of gardening year-round. Beginners and experienced gardeners can learn how to get a small urban space to produce delicious food all year in our region’s climate.

Peirce shares tips to help you plan for all-year food production, choose the best crops for a small garden, prepare the soil, grow a productive container garden, attract beneficial insects and avoid many common garden pests. Read more on her website or in her newly updated book, Golden Gate Gardening, 30thAnniversary Edition.

Peirce is a San Francisco-based gardener, author, photographer, and lecturer, whose classic regional gardening book, Golden Gate Gardening includes planting calendars covering microclimates from the foggy coast to the hot inland as far as Walnut Creek or San Jose. Pam taught horticulture at City College of San Francisco for nearly 30 years and wrote a garden column in the San Francisco Chronicle beginning in 2006. She is currently beginning work on a book of recent columns.
