Set during the dark days of WWII, Henry Michalski describes the heart-wrenching narrative of his parent’s survival in Torn Lilacs. In epic cinematic scenes, the reader is transported to the vast regions of Siberia and Kazakhstan in Central Asia. Torn Lilacs won the independent press award, the international book award, the Eric Hoffer Award and the San Francisco Book Festival Award.
