In this 1 1/2 hour class, participants will learn the basic techniques of hand sewing for a mending application. Participants will learn the basic tools needed to compile their own clothing repair kit, how to thread a needle and tie knots, basic hand stitches for repairing clothes, and how to sew on buttons and patches. All supplies will be provided for the class. Participants are encouraged to bring a clothing item or accessory from their closet that we will then apply our new skills to customize with decorative patches. For ages 8-18. Space limited. Reservations required: (415) 355-2825 (starting January 1).

 

About your instructor: Audrey is the owner of Salvage Studio, a zero waste denim and garment repair business. Salvage Studio was founded in September 2021, and has since salvaged 1000+ vintage and modern garments. Audrey is also the content creator behind, @a_thrifted_wardrobe, where she normalizes the practice of re-wearing, mending and upcycling, and educates through digestible mending tutorials to empower folks to repair their own clothes.
