Print your own fabric using the discharge method!

We will be using discharge paste to lift the dyes off natural fabrics to make cool designs, just like you would in silkscreen printing, but without the screen. Unlike bleach, this water-based paste does not damage the fibers in the fabric.

Bring in your own colored apparels you would like to print on (shirts, jackets, bags, etc.). If not, we will have some extra cloth on hand. Remember, this only works on natural fabric like cotton and linen. The effectiveness of the discharge paste depends on the dye and the material it is applied on.

Space is limited. Call or sign up at the reference desk to reserve your spot beginning Mar 1.

Exercise your power of imagination with programs that encourage hands-on projects for adults. For craft programs, all materials are provided, unless noted.

This program is sponsored by Friends of the San Francisco Public Library.
