John Malkovich stars as Austrian symbolist painter Gustav Klimt (1862 - 1918) in this opulent film loosely based on the artist's final two decades; less realist biopic than speculative essay on the role of artists. Directed by the great Chilean French director Raúl Ruiz (1941 - 2011; Mysteries of Lisbon).
