Celebrate the beginning of Summer Stride with the Excelsior Branch Library at Hawk Creek Farm (203 Cotter Street, ​San Francisco, CA 94112), an educational urban farm located on unceded territory of the Ramaytush Ohlone people providing programs for adults, students, and families to develop skills, understanding and love for land stewardship. 

  • 10:30 a.m. – Gather and walk from Excelsior Branch, with an Excelsior Branch librarian

  • 11:00 a.m. – Presentation by The Ohlone Sisters: Learn past and present Ohlone knowledge from The Ohlone Sisters, Carla Marie and Desiree Munoz. The Ohlone Sisters are tribal members of the Costanoan Rumsen Carmel tribe and will share songs, storytelling, regalia, language and special relationships from Ohlone culture.

Summer Stride is the Library's annual summer learning, reading and exploration program for all ages and abilities. Read and learn with the Library all summer long.

Connect to engaging discussions and performances related to Indigenous Peoples.

Join the Library's celebration honoring the voices of Indigenous and native peoples with programs and workshops, book recommendations and more. 


This program is sponsored by Friends of the San Francisco Public Library.


Attending Programs

All programs are drop-in (no registration necessary) unless otherwise noted. All SFPL locations are wheelchair accessible. For accommodations (such as ASL), call (415) 557-4557 or contact accessibility@sfpl.org. Requesting at least 3 business days in advance will help ensure availability.

This program will be conducted in English unless otherwise noted.
