Learn how to identify and responsibly harvest local plants, harnessing their natural dyes for vibrant pigmentations on fibers.Explore the intersection of nature, art and culture while gaining hands-on experience in foraging and dyeing techniques.


Ocean Escalanti (She/Her) is an indigenous artist and writer residing in Oakland, CA. She is a natural dye enthusiast foraging locally for plants in her area and can be found using them for pressing pigments into fibers. Ocean has an arts practice in printmaking and textile art showing work in museums and galleries around the SF Bay Area. She self-publishes poetry, illustration, and natural dye how-to zines to vend across the West Coast as various zinefests and craft fairs.
